This post explains how to open the Teams meeting chat in a separate (Teams) window, so you can for example monitor the chat on a secondary screen during a meeting.
Problem description
In the Microsoft Teams Windows client, when attending a Meeting, you can only view the Meeting Chat close to the main meeting window narrowed on the right side. You can not move this chat into a separate Window and therefore to another screen.
This is pretty annoying especially if you are presenting something or moderating. (You can not view the chat in the sharing mode anyway.)
How to/ Solution
Open the meeting chat from the Calendar
Right-click on Event and select "Chat with participants"
View Meeting details
On the top right of the chat window, you will find a menu to "View meeting details"
Pop out Meeting details
Select Chat (again)
Other solution
You can also as an alternative workaround open the meeting chat in the web browser.
See detailed post:
Hopefully, Microsoft will improve the UX here.
At least when popping out the meeting details I would not expect the selected Tab (Chat vs. Attendance) to be changed.
I wish there were a pop out button for all windows (e.g. meeting chat) on the top level.
