In the Microsoft Teams Windows client, when attending a Meeting, you can only view the Meeting Chat close to the main meeting window narrowed on the right side. You can not move this chat into a separate Window and therefore to another screen.
This is pretty annoying especially if you are presenting something or moderating. (You can not view the chat in the sharing mode anyway.)
I present here a workaround for this issue.
Open Teams in the Browser
This is a common workaround to handle the missing multiple window functionality: Open Teams from your Browser via https://teams.microsoft.com/
In the browser you can open as many Windows as wished.
If you are using Chrome as your default browser, you might want to create a lean web app for MS Teams: this will remove the browser toolbar and menus and reduce the clutter.
You can also use a Chrome extension like New Window without Toolbar. It will pop-out the browser window in a light window without the browser toolbar.
Open Meeting Chat from Calendar
My preferred way to get to a Meeting Chat is to go via the Calendar-> Select the meeting and Right-click to get the context menu opened. Then select Chat with participants
"w cal"
Final window setup
You can then pop-out the chat browser window and resize it.
Even pop it out in a clean window without browser toolbar using this Chrome extension New Window without Toolbar.
You will notice if you reduce the window width the voluminous Teams and channels list column will disappear at a certain point.
(I have looked for a way to hide it with some Tampermonkey css trick but gave up on this. Comment if you know how to.)
