YouTube Channel displaying Subscribed Channels

In my YouTube Channel I had the problem that on the Channel Homepage under the Channels Tab, all my subscribed channels were displayed.

I struggled quite a lot to fix it. I share here how I've changed this.

Here is how I did it:

I had in my YouTube Settings (Click on your profile picture on the top rights-Settings)

then under Settings-> Playlists and subscriptions-> Keep all my subscriptions private (was set to off)

Switch it to on.

I have also added on my channel some recommended other channels. 

These are now the ones displayed under the Channels Tab.

I couldn't find a way to completely remove the Channels Tab.
